Jese's Aquarium
Приєднався 13 чер 2012
Just a simple channel where I'll share some tips that I found helpful in no specific topic... but most likely it'll be mostly fish and woodwork related. I've always had a fish tank and up until now I've never really had any major problems with the hobby, but since I'm new to the whole planted aquarium scene I'll share my findings on the subject through experimentation. In relation to woodworking, I'm looking to set up shop, so I'll be making "how to" videos and the progression of the work shop. I'm looking to get organized and acquire the necessary tools to ditch the boss and do this full time.
I have a passion for these two things and I want to see where this takes me. So be sure to subscribe for more videos and thank you for visiting my channel!

thank man. would love to see where your tanks are now
Gosh, no wonder Americans in general suck in math. Measurement system not based on metric is insane.
Day 1 is post water change I am assuming?
correct
Hey Mate, thanks so much for the spreadsheets, this is exactly what I was looking for, to confirm, by day 1 you mean Monday and day 2 Tuesday etc until day 7 Sunday right ? also on day 7 what do you mean by as necessary by the buffers ? do you do those after the water change ? what are the amounts as they are not on the spreadsheet, thanks
Hello there, day one can be any day of the week, Seachem works on a 7 day cycle. So you can assign day one to any day, it would mostly depend on how your week looks for you and what days you can dedicate certain tasks like water changes. With regards to the buffers, the dosage depends on the water parameters in your area, it’s usually a standard 7-7.5 already but I’ve seen people with 8.0 and higher in their tap water. Also it would depend on what plants, fish or invertebrates you have in the tank. Not everything prefer the same acidity or alkalinity in the water. That’s mainly why I don’t have a calculation for the buffers.
Hey thanks for your reply! I've started this hobby this week and filled tank on Sunday, added stability and prime to start with and will be adding fertilizers next week, just to clarify, do spreadsheets take in consideration co 2 injection ? as my tank will not have co2, at least for now, can I still use the spreadsheets without using co 2 ?@@JesemanuelRamirez
@@lukeborg9523 yes, co2 will only aid the plants in using the fertilizers. The spreadsheet only addresses the use of the Seachem products as stated on the packaging. So how much co2 you need and how it affects the tank is out of the scope of the spreadsheet. I will advise you have a co2 meter in the tank, (typically it’s a color changing liquid in a artsy glass container that you stick to the glass inside the aquarium) since it can wipe out everything if it too high.
You are the best! Tnx!
Thanks so much for the information.i will use this chart method for diy dry fertilizer..tip also high ph will increase algae growth i most sure puerto rico has higher p.h waters i remember when i was ypunger living in ceiba p.h was high and nitrates was more in the range of 20 to 40 ppm way back in the day and little changed after hurricane hugo now am not sure how p.h levels and etc is at over there.
Awesome a fellow Puertorican! Thank you for watching the video.
Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Here's some good info - SAFE Dose = 1.25g \ 1250 ltr = 0.001 x 25 (25 = the size of your tank in ltrs) = 0.025g, WOW 2.5 hundreths of a gram, so it's a 40th of a gram for my 25 ltr tank
missing a big point....test kits...why do you dossage if you do not know if you need to?
The point was missed because it wasn’t the focus of the video. The point of the video was to explaining how Seachem recommends you use their products. In any case weather you should or shouldn’t dose something is another topic altogether.
@@JesemanuelRamirez i understand !
You also need to take into account your plant load. If I went off the suggested amount of iron, my levels would always be low. I have a 20-gallon with about 17 gallons of water. Heavily planted. I have to put in 3/4 of a cap every day to keep my iron levels at .1/.2 ppm
Dude, the rash on your neck just spread throughout the video 😳are you okay?
ROFL 🤣 yeah I’m ok I got a mosquito bite that was really annoying, couldn’t stop scratching
@@JesemanuelRamirez hahaha I was legit worried! I'm glad you're okay 😊
Should we dose with the higher dose only first time when we start using it or every first day in the week again after we change the water? 🤔
Every first day after the water change. I believe it’s directed on the excel bottle.
@@JesemanuelRamirez thanks!
There is also a dosage calculator tool on Seachem's website.
am i doing something wrong it looks to me like the Seachem dosing chart US galllons is blank do i need to do something to see it i see the other two
Hi, does this chart work with non co2 tanks? If not, what you I dose for those supplements?
Wow, thanks so much. An awesome video. Why aren't you making more videos? I would watch them, you could talk about what happens when a plant lacks of one of those fertilizers. Replicate your thumbnail and give us the same quality of content and I assure you that in time you're not only will be sponsored by seachem but with so much followers. Palabras necias, oídos sordos para todos aquellos que piensan que tú vídeo es malo
Hey thanks! I’ve just been busy with the business and had a few medical problems. Life and such but I’ve been thinking of making more as soon as I have some spare time
Dude, your not explaining your just maning it more difficult, just figure out how many Liters you have in your tanks by conferting gallon into liters online and your done is that simpel
Did you watch the whole video?
Yes i did, and again If your a person with a littel bit of brain you absolutely dont need this overly complucatet video. At least thats my opinion
@@thimoschreiber4275 lol ok dude, by the way it’s “complicated” not “complucatet”. It doesn’t take too much brain power to check your grammar. Clearly this video was not made for you but you’re not smart enough to see that. You might have the knowledge but not everyone does, or wants to take the time to do all the math. I made it so they didn’t have to sit down and make their own spreadsheet or make mistakes with the math and still enjoy the hobby, what have you done to improve the aquascaping community?
I’m trying to add my number of gallons into the chart but it won’t let me? Any idea?
I’ll check it out.
permissions are ok so Im not sure why but just in case here is the link again: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-sr26nQB-kUJ71pf-7l1ZfbrPCGlS9oh1csFKXZfq9w/edit?usp=sharing
are you trying to access the spreadsheet through the phone? If so Google Docs is kinda iffy if opening it through a browser on your phone. If its on a computer then you should be able to just double click the box with the number to change it.
@@JesemanuelRamirez it was my phone. Thanks! Lol
@@glitchdatabase4033 ok, did you manage to edit it?
Those oxygen bobbles means the tank is well oxygenated also that could be the problem of your algae
Add some fast growing plants and less nutrients dosing and it’ll fix in a few weeks
You’re the best thank you!!!!!
Hey thanks!
In my opinion this is THE BEST video I've seen of plant care products/dosing I've seen here on UA-cam.. you got to make more videos. This is awesome
I know, I’ve been away from making videos for hot minute. There are some topics I want to tackle and I hope I can get them done soon. Thanks for the comment, I’ll make more soon.
This is what I've been looking for straight forward and to the point going to give it a go, 130lt tank with 14 variety of easy/medium grow plants and co2 let's see what results I get 👍
What % of a water change should be made on day 7?
Thanks for putting the dosing sheet together! Enjoyed your discussion and very informative.
Hi Jese! You simply the best, sincerely thank you and much appreciated for this 💯💯💯🤜🤛. May I ask, can i start with the dosing regime from day 1? And what's the best ph, kh and gh level for planted tank? Thank you in advance.
Hey no problem! With regards to ph it really depends on the plants you plan on having in your aqua scape, there are plants that will melt in acidic and others in alkaline water. Some plants need low hardness levels and others won’t really grow if your water is too soft. It’s best to research where the plants you have/want are originated. That will give you a better understanding of what you need. On the matter of wether to start from day one I would say yes, but I don’t know what you are using as substrate. If you are only using gravel then yes. Hope this helps! And have fun with the hobby.
@@JesemanuelRamirez thank you so so much, this info really helps. May God bless. 👍😁💯
Thank you so much.
Enjoy
I mean its all depends on plant load, i have to dose tons of nitrogen which your sheet doesn't account for
Well the sheet is not made to account for every single scenario. We don’t all have the same plants or load of plants, and not all plants take up the same amount of nutrients all the time, so you’ll always have to adapt depending on your specific needs. The sheet is meant to make the Seachem chart easier to follow and to make a quick chart to use as specified by Seachem for their products, depending exclusively on your aquarium size and volume. If you have the specifics on how much your plants consume Nitrogen, and you can quantify it, then you can adapt the chart to your plants needs. You can download the chart and modify it to fit your model as you wish.
Thank you so much!
Brutal lo que estaba buscando tremendo trabajo

I need some advice. Just started to use seachem prime, stability, matrix and pristine in my 10L tank for betta fish. pH has always been around 6.5-7. However, noticed that pH is 5.6 today, do not understand what could have caused this. 50% water change done every 5days but filter sponge not changed. I opened up my filter and it has a very strong chemical smell of matrix and filter sponge is dirty. However, I understand from the seachem website that these products do not alter pH. Appreciate some pointers.
Hmmm to be honest I don't really know what could lower your pH in this case. PH can lower do to decomposing organic matter. Also 2 gallons is a small aquarium for a Betta, I can't recommend enough a bigger aquarium. I know not everyone has the space, which is why they get small aquariums, but a ~40L aquarium would be much better for the fish and easier to control the parameters as well. One missed food pellet in a 10L has a bigger impact than in a big aquarium. With regards to the sponge filter, how are you cleaning it? I would suggest that you don't wash it under running tap water or try to get it super clean either. Take the water you're changing out of the tank to agitate the sponge in, to remove the debris in it. Besides that, check your water source, to check if any fluctuations occurred on that end. Hope that helps.
Great video great detail I got a question I use seachem neutral regulator these instructions only say use 1 level teaspoon for every 40-80 litres my tank is only 28 litres how to work this out ?
I would suggest weighing the amount suggested in grams. Then dividing the amount of the product in grams to the amount of liters it treats to the figure the ratio. There you can find out how many grams per liters. Also, the Neutral regulator is not formulated for planted aquariums. I use the acidic and alkaline buffers to bring the water parameters to where I want them.
@@JesemanuelRamirez thank you very much appreciate your response and your help I'll change the product to your recommendation thank you
i love u
ROFL!!! Best comment so far
I have a planted 96 gallon aquarium with roughly 9 gallons of aquascape, leaving me a 90 gallons/340.65 ml. Following the chart, what do you recommend for a schedule as far as daily maintenance and what do you reccomend after water changes?? Great video BTW, I've been looking for a clear answer on the subject with little to no results. Major kudos for sharing the spreadsheet as well.
Hello there Preston. How i was doing it is that i would make my water changes on sundays and let it rest for the day and follow the suggested dosing plan from seachem. So a 6 day dosing routine and on the seventh a water change and repeat the dosing cycle again. Hope that answers your question. Let me know if i missed something.
@@JesemanuelRamirez So water changes Sunday with no dosing? Probably just prime right? And just keep repeating that schedule indefinitely for all the other seachem products? Right now I have prime, safe, stability, flourish and excel. Was hoping to get away with what I have and not purchasing more. Lol. Im coming off a 3 week dry start and I'm flooding tomorrow and waiting until the tank is cycled prior to adding anything. Thank you for the speedy response and all help is appreciated. I plan to use everything I have for the initial start up.lol
@@prestonj6263 yes, i only do prime and buffers for pH and such, no ferts.
Flourish excel is good to use daily or use only when you saw algae....?? Bcoz I'm Bigginer with planted tank ... So need advice for this products...
As stated in the video, Seachem suggest using Excel for 6 days and 1 day of rest. The spreadsheet is easy to use and will give you a dosing what and when and how much on a day by day basis.
Thank you! You felt my pain with the Seachem measurements, thats why you made this video. Get a free diabetic syringe at the clinic (1ml) for accurate measurements.
Love your video and no BS style - got more answers here than the other 12 videos I watched :)
silly question, are you dosing your water while using tap water, or RODI water? this hobby is a rabbit hole, and your spread sheet honestly is a staple for me now.
I use RO water when dosing with the seachem line
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the spreadsheet and sorry for the late reply
Hats off, great work definitely will help. Thank You.
Glad it helped
Omg this is exactly what I was looking for
Thank's Jese, super helpful!
I don't know what you're doing wrong if you have CO2 and your tank still looks like that!
the simple way is ,,,,,,,,,,,, 5ml divided by 50gal. = 0.1ml per gallon,,, X the gallons of your tank (25gal in your case) = 2.5ml dose. no need to convert gallons to liters
Thank you soo much for that chart, you made my life soo much easyer

Dude great video. Just started with my tank a week ago and this is gonna be so helpful. Just one question, should I dose before the lights go on, like 10mn before or how should I do it? Thanks
it really doesnt matter in my opinion, as long as you keep the dosing schedule but if anything maybe before the lights go on. Again just try to dose during the morning, that way they will be in contact with it for a longer period during the day.
@@JesemanuelRamirez Really appreciate it. Last question, should I provide 7 or 8 hours of lighting? Last but not least, is there any break in between where the lights should be off or they Just stay on?
Amazon has great prices on 5ml pipettes , works great for seachem doses
i swear by them. They are essential
we know how much we need to dose each time, but how often we should dose pls?
the chart specifies 6 days a week, on the seventh day is for water change and rest
Thanks man, your video is helpful. Do you have any idea about Seachem Excel? How to use for plants aquarium?
Hello Amir, thanks for asking. The spreadsheet I made will help you dose seachem excel according to the recommended amount from the manufacturer. They recommend dosing 6 days of the week and the amount is dependent on the volume of water your aquarium has. You can use or copy the Google Sheet I linked in the video description so you can determine how much Excel you need for you aquarium.
5 ml per 50 US gallons (189L) per day, unless starting a new aquarium which will require more. Do not overdose; for this product is better fall short than exceed or it may kill. Use rule of three to get amount for your aquarium volume (real water volume after deducting substrate, hardscape, etc. and not just tank size).
